The final figure was an attendance of 155,434 viewers, marking a new record in the history of the Festival exceeding the 150,000 of 2008.

Artistically it could not have been better. Above all, the huge event was John Zorn’s Masada Marathon with a wide international repercussion. In 2013 there were only two Masada Marathons worldwide. One was in San Sebastian, the other in New York. All the critics agreed in indicating that the Masada Marathon of July 27, 2013 at the Kursaal Auditorium was the best ever heard by Zorn and his disciples. Media from the United States, France, Britain, Germany, Italy and Serbia sent their main critics to cover this concert.

All the artists were great in their concerts. The Plaza de la Trinidad was unanimous applauding The Swallow Quintet, Jorge Pardo, Dave Douglas, Pharoah Sanders, China Moses, Buika, Hiromi and Youn Sun Nah.

In the Kursaal Auditorium, besides the aforementioned Masada Marathon, Diana Krall and Lee Konitz, who was awarded the Donostiako Jazzaldia Award also had a great success. This year journalist Juan Claudio Cifuentes who has made jazz popular in Spain also received the Donostiako Jazzaldia Award.

At the Teatro Victoria Eugenia, two beautiful concerts, with the pianist Vijay Iyer and the singer Silvia Perez Cruz.

In the San Telmo Museum, many viewers discovered the Aurora Trio, Beñat Achiary, Maya Homburger, Barry Guy Duo, Mikel Azpiroz and Uncommon Deities.

The Green Stage at the Zurriola Beach was a non stop party. It began with Jamie Cullum and ended with a collective rave – !!! (chk chk chk). Among them, performances by Elvis Costello, Belle & Sebastian, Capsule, Shibusa Shirazu Orchestra or Belako with unforgettable concerts. Unfortunately the concert by Nothing Places had to be suspended due to rain and wind.

The Festival continued its efforts to promote Basque jazz that started in previous editions. A total of 33 soloists and groups demonstrated the excellent level of the music that is practiced today in the Basque Country.
