Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Danielle Nicole is one of the essential voices of contemporary blues. She grew up in a deeply musical family: her father played blues guitar and her mother sang in a group, known as Little Eva. She formed Trampled Under Foot, a trio with her brothers, which came to be recognised in the American Midwest and helped cement her passion for music.
Danielle embarked on her solo career with Wolf Den (2015), which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Blues charts and amassed 12 million Spotify streams. Cry No More (2018) followed; the record was nominated for a Grammy in the Contemporary Blues category and debuted at number one in the Billboard Blues Charts.
She is a singer of enormous expressive intensity, recognised both for her vocal virtuosity and her bass technique. Nicole has been honoured with numerous awards, including ten Blues Music Awards. She has also been inducted into the Kansas City Hall of Fame as well as the Canada South Blues Society Hall of Fame.
On stage, she always connects very directly with audiences, thanks to her authenticity and a narrative style heavily informed by blues and soul, projected towards the present. Danielle Nicole is not only an excellent performer. She is also a storyteller who continues to push the boundaries of the genre. She leaves her indelible mark in every performance, to constantly reassert that she is one of the great figures of contemporary blues.
