EXTC – XTC’s Terry Chambers & friends
Event held
Terry Chambers (drums), Steve Hampton (lead vocals, guitar), Terry Lines (bass, vocals)
For almost four decades we did not have the pleasure of seeing XTC on stage. Many who dreamt of being able to do so one day can now live that dream. XTC’s legendary drummer, Terry Chambers, is back on the road, with his band EXTC, legitimate heirs to the mythical XTC.
Emerging out of the post-punk explosion and the late-1970s new wave, XTC enjoyed great success, touring with bands like The Police and Talking Heads. The British group also earned great recognition in North America and Japan. Unfortunately, their legions of loyal fans were left in limbo when, in 1982, XTC stopped touring and became a group that, until 2000, only recorded albums in studios.
In 2017, Terry Chambers returned to the United Kingdom from Australia and reconnected with Colin Moulding to put together the project that was given the name TC&1. That was enough for Terry to see what he simply had to do: start performing live again. So did EXTC come into being, in early 2019. The pandemic delayed the group’s first tour, but, in 2021, they toured the United Kingdom again, and all their concerts were sold out. That was followed by a tour of the United States, Canada and Japan.
EXTC will tour extensively throughout the world in 2025 and 2026, with their new live album, to be launched on April 4, 2025. The band will also continue to work on completely new material with their new group as it is at present. Along with Terry Chambers on drums, Steve Hampton is on guitar and is lead vocalist (Joe Jackson, The Vapors, Dead Crow Road) and Terry Lines is on bass and part of the back-up chorus (The Rams, Dead Crow Road).
