Basque-born vocalist and composer, based in London, Bea Asurmendi, presents her album Asteartea (2025).

Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Music Performance and a Master's in Jazz Performance (Singing) from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama, her album meshes together contemporary Jazz and roots music, taking listeners on a multilingual journey that addresses themes such as grief, forgiveness, self-respect, the empowerment of women and mental health awareness. Asurmendi is inspired by artists who fuse genres rooted in Jazz, folk and singer-songwriter fare.

Her influences include Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Norma Winstone, Josefine Cronholm, Cyrille Aimée and her former mentor Brigitte Beraha. With lyrics in Basque, Spanish and English, Asurmendi creates an intimate and visceral universe where Jazz improvisation and harmony engage with honest lyrics, with an authenticity that is difficult to match.
