Brad Mehldau Trio

Brad Mehldau (piano), Jordi Rossy (drums), Felix Moseholm (double bass)

Brad Mehldau is one of his generation’s most acclaimed pianists. Sensitivity, elegance, innovation, sophistication and strength are just some of the words serving to define the musical personality of this North American pianist.

While Mehldau received a solid classical music education as a child, he very soon developed an interest in jazz. He was a member of his college jazz band and received an award from the prestigious Berklee College. He studied jazz at the New School for Social Research in New York and began his professional career in the early 90s.

Mehldau’s musical personality forms a dichotomy. A composer and arranger, he is first and foremost an improviser who greatly cherishes the surprise and wonder that can occur from a spontaneous musical idea expressed directly, in real time. But he also has a deep fascination for the formal architecture of music. The two sides of Mehldau’s personality produce an effect of controlled chaos, music full of different shades, evocative and narrative.

Brad Mehldau Trio + Dave Holland / Chris Potter: Kismet

Dave Holland (double bass), Chris Potter (saxophone), TBC (percussion)

Kismet - Dave Holland and Chris Potter - is the union of two giants who have left their mark on the Jazz of recent decades, two exceptional musicians capable of moving, inspiring, and displaying, each on their instrument, the greatest virtuosity and the most sophisticated musical language. The fact that each of them is a great star in their own right does not prevent them from blending perfectly, treating each other as equals, respecting one another, understanding each other, and collaborating to, from their great love for music, discover new paths and explore unknown territories.

Dave Holland has been a key figure within contemporary Jazz over the years and has been performing for more than five decades. His music has left a deep mark on the world of contemporary Jazz and his career is full of stellar moments: he played in the rhythm section in Miles Davis’ In a Silent Way (1969), as well as in Bitches Brew (1970); with Chick Corea’s Jazz ensemble Circle; with John Abercrombie and Jack DeJonnette in the Jazz trio, Getaway; with Herbie Hancock and Pat Metheny on the album Parallel Realities; he has played with Stan Getz, with Sam Rivers…

Chris Potter is a visionary of contemporary Jazz, a saxophonist and composer whose creativity knows no bounds, and who also possesses a fascinating capacity for improvisation. Energetic, sophisticated, dynamic and expressive, his style is such that it encompasses everything from classical Jazz to avant-garde fusion. Honed on many influences, and with vast musical awareness of past, present and future, he has collaborated with a very long list of artists, among them Herbie Hancock, John Scofield, Mingus Big Band, Jim Hall, Paul Motian, Dave Douglas, Ray Brown, Steely Dan, Marian McPartland, Larry Carlton, Mike Mainieri, James Moody...
